Humor is an underutilized yet powerful tool within positive psychology, offering significant benefits for resilience, well-being, and engagement. This presentation explores how positive psychologists can intentionally develop and apply humor to enhance individual and collective flourishing. Drawing on empirical research, we will discuss humor’s role in reframing stress, fostering creativity, and promoting emotional well-being. Key findings highlight the interplay between humor and other areas of positive psychology, such as optimism, mindfulness, and flow. Practical applications, including humor-based interventions, can be integrated into coaching, therapy, and organizational settings to buffer stress, build connections, and sustain motivation. For practitioners, humor offers a unique pathway to deepen client engagement and foster positive emotional states. This presentation will also outline methods for cultivating one’s humor capacity, providing a roadmap for leveraging humor effectively and ethically in professional practice. Attendees will gain actionable insights into the science of humor, its transformative potential, and strategies for embedding humor into positive psychology interventions. This talk aims to inspire a broader adoption of humor within the field and advance its application as a key driver of psychological and social renewal.
